We’re more than honored to introduce our first dev blog at the very beginning of the new year! Our game dev team is here to take a deep dive into the journey of game development that is much aligned with PolkaFantasy’s ambition and vision.
📜 Introduction
Fueled by the team’s immense passion and community’s enthusiasm, this newsletter covers some secret cores of PolkaFantasy’s first-ever blockchain game. Striving to be one of the best blockchain games, PolkaFantasy’s first game is built from the ground up by an incredibly experienced team.
Building a triple-A title is not an easy job and it requires extra time and effort to reach the quality we are looking for. Our team is working day and night trying to deliver a top-notch game in a timely manner. You will agree that it is something you want in the long run.
While there are many things going on in our game development, we would like to highlight several aspects that will excite you. We believe that laying a solid foundation will lead to great success for the project and benefit the PolkaFantasy community the most.

📖 Story & Scenario
Starting in November, our creative team has been working on story and scenario writing. PolkaFantasy story is a collaborative effort of a very talented creative team. Team members are all from top game studios.
Our main story and scenario writer holds a very strong background in delivering imaginative stories for successful games in one of the most respected Japanese game studios.
Our goal is to craft a full-fetched story that aligns to the fantasy theme in PolkaFantasy. In addition to the main story, all characters revealed so far will have their own unique stories. You will find cut-in scenarios that tell the grand story of PolkaFantasy in the game too.
Last week, we announced the prologue story started with the arrival of “Legardia” from another dimension, a magical world filled with a mysterious force named “Mana”. The story spells our main theme — “Prosperity & Sacrifice”. This is only the beginning. More tales are waiting for you to explore before our alpha/beta release.
⚔️ Battle Scene
PolkaFantasy always strives for the best user experience. Our team is currently building the battle system along with a fascinating UI design in order to deliver a second-to-none gaming experience.
To deliver the best-in-class immersive experience to you and players all around the world, our team is creating a battle system which focuses on each amazing character’s unique battle moments. This zoom and pan feature makes the game scene more dynamic as if you are the one in the battles. Our team is building several prototypes at the moment for the best performance. While optimization is still going on, we are thrilled to share a sneak peek of this interesting feature with you here. We cannot wait to show you a longer version of battle in our future update!
Meanwhile, we are adding more thematic skill cards, which gamers can leverage the strengths and ratings to amplify performance of their heroes. Different combinations of characters give players different tactics to conquer and climb the leaderboard. We cannot wait to see how you build the dream team that surprises your foes!
⚙️ Backend & Blockchain
Our blockchain engineers are constantly working with game designers and developers to build out the best product with cutting edge blockchain tech. At the moment, PolkaFantasy will come in two parts: On-chain & Off-Chain.
On-chain architecture maintains the integrity and value of the NFTs in the long run. Unlike many other blockchain games putting all data on their own servers, we will put the essential information of your precious NFTs on IPFS (InterPlanetary File System). To maintain a high degree of flexibility, we implement game data as off-chain data in order to make frequent revision possible. Our team is determined to deliver the best of both worlds with our NFTs. And soon, you will find out more about what features come with them.
In the meantime, the team is dedicated to building the API structure to seamlessly connect all parts. Our engineers and developers have completed the game database design (table schema for characters and weapons etc.). Optimization is underway.
🎨 Characters Design
Character design is always the bridge to connect to players’ emotion in a fairly subtle way. With that in mind, PolkaFantasy is bringing the power back to its real life heroes with brand new in-game heroes. All heroes are born with different gifts and powers. In your journey to explore and conquer the Fantasy Lands, you will discover more of their secrets!
The latest hero characters are designed with charisma and finest details unseen in other blockchain games. The lineup has been overwhelmingly loved by our own community as we have revealed 9 new characters in the past few weeks. Of which some characters come with legendary and epic versions, they will all be available at our most anticipated loot box event. The event is expected to launch after the completion of our BSC/Polygon $XP bridges. Very likely, our loot box event will come soon in February 2022.
While we are waiting for the other three new heroes to arrive, the first generation of PolkaFantasy heroes are ready to shine in our coming game. We are committed to improve the quality of them and make them shine even more on the battlefield.
🕺 Animation
Our creative artists are currently creating over 30 (tentative) units of SD characters for the battle scene. Each of them comes with more than a dozen motion and skill animations. All characters come with unique motions that will bring life to the fancy battles that dominated the world of PolkaFantasy. The higher the character rank, the more skills they have, thus more sets of motion.
In creating these SD characters, our team has painstakingly looked into the details of the characters. Motion is customized in a way to reflect their characteristics in the most natural way. When motions bring life to these gorgeous characters, they become part of you that transverse into the Fantasy Land and interact with other players.
We are thrilled to give you a sneak peek of some of the most loved characters.
🎵 Sound & Music
Music is of paramount importance to create a mystic atmosphere for the game. We are now producing a theme song with one of the most talented musicians in Japan. Besides, battle music and other soundtracks for the game are also in progress. We have studied a good range of music from the most successful games and movies, and strive to deliver unforgettable melodies which would touch your heart.
Our team believes that music forms a large part of the spirit in great games. As Irish poet Oscar Wilde once said, ‘Music is the art which is most nigh to tears and memory’. Great music entices memorable moments of the game, and that is the magic of music. All music and sounds in PolkaFantasy are created to bring you joy and tears. We cannot wait to share more about our world of music with you in the near future!

The power of mana is taking over the realms of PolkaFantasy. You are going to witness how PolkaFantasy heroes use the mana and their unique skills to dominate the colosseum in action. Stories of kingdoms will be unveiled soon.
