“Fantasy Box, Legend” Event: Launch Date & Dev Updates
The “Fantasy Box, Legend” event was originally scheduled to launch on February 18, 11:30AM UTC. Unfortunately, we were not able to fix a number of unexpected technical issues that occurred before the announced time. Our team finally made the difficult decision to postpone the “Fantasy Box, Legend” event to February 25, 11:30AM UTC (Tentative).
We’d like to take this opportunity to sincerely apologize to every single one of you, who has been there for PolkaFantasy since the very beginning of our journey. We do not have any excuses for what happened yesterday. Our team has learned from this unfortunate experience and is now running multiple tests with different use cases to ensure the best delivery. We are here to explain yesterday’s situation in detail.
1. A Mix-up of Tech Requests
The testing site was deployed to the production environment instead of the actual one because we mixed up a few tech requests to resolve issues found on the testing site and the deployment of the actual event site.
As a result, a number of users purchased test Fantasy Box at low test prices. We have already refunded the exact amount of $XP and MATIC to everyone who made a purchase from the testing site.
We have coordinated an internal investigation and found that this event was caused by human error. The person responsible was given a warning, and the team will take extra precautions to avoid such incidents in the future.
2. Missing Whitelisted Addresses & Discounts
We found the whitelist addresses were not properly uploaded to the smart contract due to a formatting issue. This led to a situation where some participants from the whitelist were unable to receive the designated discounts, when making purchases from the real smart contract.
Our team has consolidated each one of the eligible whitelisted wallet addresses into the correct format. And this will be updated on our new NFT contract in future.
Those who made a purchase at the fixed rates, with or without discount, were fully refunded their $XP and MATIC (gas fee).
3. Block Issues on Polygon Network
We intended to show the result of the Fantasy Box immediately to the user, which is why we set our worker to scan the latest block. Everything recorded to the blockchain was and is correct, but the information retrieved by our database was not, which consequently affected what users drew (i.e someone who drew a Legendary saw information of someone else’s Epic).
Our team has made adjustments to the block confirmation number, in line with coinbase’s practice, to ensure mint results are not replaced by information from other blocks. Our team has rescanned and updated the database so that the information is correct.
Please note all NFTs minted yesterday will not be usable in the game. We will deploy a new smart contract for our new launch.
